A Christmas Special

Regardless of what EVERYONE may say the Holidays are about, you know why you take this time to celebrate the Holidays. Everyone has their reasons why they may or may not celebrate, and I would like to say, "To each, it's own." But I also would say that the holidays are what you as a person make them out to be.

Do you know why they say Christmas is the best time of the year? It's because, out of 365 days a year, this is the one day to give, spread love, cheer, and joy. Of course, we should do that every day, but if we're being honest, we don't. Some may also believe Jesus Christ was born on December 25th, which, again, I would say to each its own.

But today, I want to share, Why this time of the year besides my birthday is probably my favorite? It's simple, a time to GIVE, GIVE, GIVE, and GIVE. If you're anything like me, I love being the reason to make people cry happy tears or seeing the sparkle in their eyes when they open up their gifts. Whether it's buying a gift for my mom, sister, friend, or just a card for my neighbor, I want people to have a reason to smile during this holiday season—especially after the last few years we had.

But I want to take this time to acknowledge God's most precious gift to humanity; the true gift that will forever bring tears to many eyes; Jesus Christ. Whether he was born on this day or not, God did a selfless act by giving us his only begotten son. A king wrapped in swaddling clothes, born in a stable, as he slept in a manager, was destined to save the world so that you and I would have eternal life.

A gift we didn't have to ask for.

A gift we didn't deserve.

A gift that was able to love us in spite of.

And gift that will remain a lifetime.

Can we try something different this year if you haven't already? Can we take a moment to appreciate, adore, and exalt the incredible gift given to us, Jesus Christ? God wanted to see the tears of joy, forgiveness, and love rolling down our faces. He treasured to see the sparkle in our eyes while rejoicing over the salvation prayer and commitment to Him. God wanted you and me to know; we are unique, memorable, and we matter in His eyes.

If there is one thing I learned about being a Christian, Christmas is about; Giving Gifts in Love. To give without receiving or expecting something in return. To share without receiving a handout. To give in the purity of heart and a gift of quality.

Whether buying a gift, sending a card, serving food, ringing the bell for the Salvation Army, etc., take the time to realize during this Christmas season to give in Love. Remind people they are being thought of.

Spread the same love given to us by God because even when we thought we didn't matter, God gave us the gift to tell us we did, so give that gift to someone today.
