Rest In Jesus

Matthew 11:28-29 says,

(28) "Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. (29) "Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. (30)"For My yoke is easy and my burden is light."

It's so easy to face a situation and figure things out independently. It seems more normal to go through the motions by yourself becasue you believe you can handle it. It's something you have been used to your whole life. Except you are more worn out.

Why is that?

Could it be your lack of trust in Jesus Christ that He can uplift that burden off of you?

For the past three weeks, there has been a lot going on internal and external, to the point I never sought God for help. I believed it was easy to manage, but I realized I was becoming exhausted physically and mentally like never before. I figured going through the motions was normal, and they would just pass, but every day that went by, there was a straining of peace and joy in my life. It was hard to come to God and trust Him in that moment, but I'm not sure Why?

I strayed from becoming vulnerable to sheltering my emotions, it felt more natural, but it only created distance in my relationship with God.

This morning during my prayer time, I listened to Turn Your Eyes On Jesus by Lauren Daigle, which the Holy Spirit brought Matthew 11:28-30 to my attention. Jesus tells us to rest, lean, hope, and depend on Him. Why? becasue He cares for us. He knows the emotions we are feeling at this exact moment becasue He's been through them all. He knows how it feels to lose a loved one, to feel restless and tired, lonely, betrayed, mocked, laughed at, and lied on. Jesus knows and is willing to take that burden off our shoulders. He wants us to take His yoke, learn from Him, and rest easy.

It's not a matter of what we can and cannot handle, but what we are willing to give God, to strengthen us, guide us, and give us the wisdom to get through all situations in our life.

Let's turn our eyes on Jesus when faced with a situation unsure of or if it is a matter we are fully aware of. No matter how big or small it may be, look up to Jesus Christ as the author and finisher of our faith. Talk to Him about it, praise Him in the midst of it, fast and pray, read the word; whatever the Holy Spirit leads you to do, do it.

This week, take the time to look back at your life and focus on everything God has brought you through. Trigger warning; it may make you laugh, it may make you cry, but it will allow you to see the goodness of God and His faithfulness over your life. That He is with you always. For His word says in

Deuteronomy 31:8

“It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.”

Don't allow what you're going through now to determine your faith in God.

He's done it before, He will do it again.
